Nintendo Wii

Nintendo Wii Channel

The Nintendo wii Channel Menu is the first screen display that appears in front of the screen right after the system is turned on.  It features eight other channels you can choose from.  The Nintendo Wii Channel Menu may be tailored to your preferences.  Let's review each of the channels.

Disc Drive Channel

You can click on this Nintendo Wii channel if you wish to start up Wii and GameCube games.  Nintendo Wii is backward compatible so loading in GameCube discs does not pose any problem.

Mii Channel

Young users can create their own portraits in cartoon caricatures, which can be used later in many Wii softwares.  Users may store up the portraits in the Wii Remote and show it to a friend on another console.

Photo Channel

If you've been reading the manual or reviews online, you'll know that the Wii console has a built-in SD Memory Card that allow you to store images.  You can access those images on this Nintendo Wii channel.  The Wii Remote serves a different purpose in this aspect, using it to modify the size of the picture by moving it towards and away from the screen.  The modification tools allow users to modify the images and colors creatively.

Forecast Channel

Clicking on this Nintendo Wii channel hooks you into constantly updated local weather forecasts through WiiConnect24 but requires an Internet connection.  A 3D globe lets users access information of weather from anywhere on the planet.

News Channel

Be updated with the latest news through this channel, when the console is connected to the Internet through WiiConnect24 that gives automatic updates in this channel and groups them into various categories.

Wii Shop Channel

Purchase Virtual Console Games as well as additional Wii Points and redeem them on this Nintendo Wii channel (NES = $5, SNES = $8, N64 = $10).  It's also here where users can get the Opera browser, which allows players to surf the web.

Internet Channel

If you have the Opera browser, you can go ahead and access it on this Nintendo Wii channel.  This channel amazingly brings together your television and the Internet all in one device.  You can research quickly in the middle of commercials.  This service is compatible with Macromedia Flash.

Wii Message Board

You can throw away corkboards.  The Wii Message board allows users to leave messages for other members of the family.  Aside from this feature, text and photos may be sent to mobile phones using this channel.  You can also receive updates of games when they are available, like new maps or weapons.
